As we practice FRQs for the AP Stats test, I need to clarify what is considered 'proper mechanics'. For example when doing significance testing, do students have to write the formulas even if they use the calculator? Although we always discuss the formulas and use of tables, I allow students to use the calculator AS LONG AS they write the name of the function and identify the corresponding arguments for the function. Is this typically acceptable?

I recently went to an AP Stats weeklong seminar... I was told it is sufficient to write "TI speak" with labels on each of the numbers to count as acceptable work shown.
